Training Philosophy
My philosophy regarding instructing and learning is simple. I believe you must reach participants on a “human to human” level. Research tells us that when participants know you value them as a human being, they will work harder, challenge less, and claim ownership of the information and initiative that is being taught.
I believe participants need to be given research based practical strategies and applications. I understand that participants come to trainings with different backgrounds and cultures and their cognitive abilities, assets, and experiences are just as wide ranging. The “one size fits all” approach does not work anymore when it comes to building rapport with staff members, encouraging a positive work environment, and creating buy-in to an initiative or new program.
I am dedicated to helping participants be successful through motivation, inspiration, humor, and a common-sense approach to stress management. Most importantly, I provide participants with as many proven, practical strategies as I can. After all, it was an enthusiastic, well prepared, loving educator who inspired me to design instruction and to provide learning experiences to help as many people to grow as possible - and this has since become my mission as well.
